UDinh - Assign 1 - A good idea

I love its color ^^

- Line and shape: yes.
- Space: yes.
- Emphasis by placement: yes.
- Emphasis by contrast: yes.

A little of balance by direction, I guess. The way it makes you look right at the white space in the middle and then move to the white letter in the corner. At least, that's how I feel.

Edit:

One more picture, just because ^^

  1. I agreed with you, this is a very good choice and your understanding of what the designer ment.

  2. Simple and strong. The orange is iconic.
I love the emphasis by placement. You can almost see Garfield stretched out...lol

  3. Simple and direct. Definitely great emphasis by placement and color, and the whole Gestalt principle is interesting - the figure/ground merges - creates two meanings. The whites of the eyes are striking.

The only problem is I started out not knowing what Comex is, and I still don't know what Comex is trying to sell. I am guessing this ad would be more effective for a viewer who has already heard of this company, so I am interested in where you found this ad, and who Comex's target audience was, and if they necessarily reached it.

  4. @Angela: Comex is the company that sells paint ^^ That's why their focus point is color. Actually, at first, I didn't know what Comex was. However, the ads look interested to me, so I search them on google.

  5. Making references to iconic characters of the past and present always make any ad (if done right)more interesting. But the use or even lack of colors makes this paint company's point even stronger.

  6. its a very simple ad, they're advertising color and they really emphasize that, you don't need the whole picture to know who these charaters are, i think Garfield's eyes also add a radial balance also. good and fun colors on each.

  7. good advertising even though it is straight to the point that they can match any color.
